At the Beach

I recently spent the weekend in Daytona Beach for my youngest brother's birthday. My other brother couldn't attend because he's in Tally for school, we missed him though :)

We had a really good time. We always have at least one thing happen that we laugh about for years and this time the joke was on me. My hair was looking great (braidouts are my new best friend) and I didn't plan on really swimming because I left my extra pair of contacts AND glasses on the coffee table. So we go up to the hotel and they have this fantastic lazy river

We get in and noticed that we weren't floating very well. So I suggested to my sister that we sit on top of the tubes (mind you no one else is doing this) and warned her that if she fell I was going to laugh because she's notoriously goofy. We get up on top and everything's cool... until I go to push off from the wall. I tipped over backwards and was dunked under the water!!! I mean head facing down, had to push myself right side up and everything. After I made sure that I hadn't lost my contacts I laughed and laughed. But you know what the best part was???

My hair still looked good!

Questions

Meikmeika asked "How do you keep your bangs to one side?"
I use a scarf to tie my hair down at night because it helps me control the frizz. I swoop my bangs to the side and then put the scarf on. They usually stay in place the next day. When I was a permie I had a permanent part in my hair from parting it in the same place all the time so I make it a point to tie down different rows now.

naturally sophia asked "Did you cut your hair in it's shape?"
For some reason the hair in the crown of my hair seems to grow twice as fast as that in the back. Usually my hair grows so that when I pull it all back, it appears to be even. But, while I was transitioning I didn't take care of the two textures at all...

Here's a timeline in pictures:

December '06 ~ I could just slap myself because I hadn't permed my hair in three months and then decided to perm my hair prior to going on a cruise.

While transitioning I basically brushed my hair back and slapped on a headwrap.

So by the time I locked in May, I really only had natural hair in the back because the CFC damaged hair had broken off. So that's how my hair ended up in it's current shape.

Random pics

I decided to post a few pics so that my last somewhat depressing post isn't the first thing people see when they click on my page lol.

There's not too much going on with my hair, other than a lot of growth. And for some reason they've been frizzilicious lately lol. I still haven't figured out why I have one lock right in the very front that refuses to seal or stay put. No matter how many times I twist or braid the end back together it reverts back to one big curl on the end.

I think I'm going to keep my bangs cut. I like them long enough that I can swoop them to the side. Plus, they cover up my big forehead and break up the roundness of my face.

The only styling that I've done since getting locked has been rollersets but I've been a bit more adventurous lately. I had my mom braid one side of my hair and I curled the side and flipped the back. It was cute and lasted a few days but due to the pain factor I don't think I'll be doing it again any time soon lol.

I also did a couple of braidouts. I liked them because it gave me big hair.

I'm still on the job hunt and am hoping that I'll find something soon. I'm off to the beach to meet my family and of course I hear thunder :( But I'm going to go anyways because my sister has her college orientation and I want to be nosey. After all, that's what big sisters are for lol.
